This guide has been put together by members of the COMPAC with the goal of facilitating your move to Tampa It also includes input from previous four classes regarding apartments, condos, and a few services typically required while moving (i.e. electricity, water, cable/internet, etc.).

Before we list the specifics, we want to include just a few words about the general area. As we are sure you became aware during your interviews, USF COM is lucky to train at a number of different facilities around Tampa and St. Petersburg. While this gives us a wide variety of experiences, it does require some considerable driving time. Your chosen location for the next four years will make a big difference in the amount of time you will spend in your car.

With that said, here is a little information about the areas surrounding USF MCOM. South Tampa (Soho, Hyde Park, Davies Island, Harbor Island, etc.) is not a bad decision; many students live south of I-4, and find that the 15-20 minute drive to class everyday is worth it for close quick access to TGH, bars, and restaurants that Hyde Park and SoHo provide. New Tampa (North of campus, Tampa Palms) is a suburban sprawl with plenty of apartments and condos available, slightly larger and slightly cheaper, with around a closer (5-15 min) minute drive to school, but obviously farther away from TGH, and some of the entertainment options in S. Tampa.

USF Health has affiliated with a housing service to assist students looking for finding a housing location in the Tampa Bay area. Please visit USF Health Real Estate with Honors for more information.

As another note of precaution, the area near the University Mall is a high crime area. You should avoid apartments located on the west side of Bruce B. Downs Blvd. from Bearss Ave. to Busch Blvd. We cannot emphasize this enough!!
